“With a little creativity, we can all find ways to be more sustainable at home”
Here is a wake-up call to all those who care about the environment; to live the same way.
We think of sustainability as a responsibility of government and policies but the whole responsibility lies on the user; that is “all of us”.
Each day comes with a new opportunity to change and turn ourselves to be more creative. With these thoughts, even this unprecedented time has brought us enormous opportunities to upgrade ourselves, skill up, be creative and bring the new change; since, while staying at home; we have been producing more waste than ever before.
Focussing on the 2030 sustainable development agenda, most of the companies have been promoting the new way to a sustainable life i.e. sustainability at home which is a great step to have our hands-on. Though it is not a tedious job to be done it proves to be helpful in the long run. So without contributing much, we ought to make little changes in our lifestyle and contribute a morsel.
Certain companies such as Procter & Gamble has been continuously promoting this great idea during the epidemic as a force for good. While each of us is staying at home; we can involve the whole family to reduce, reuse, and recycle; according to the packaging experts at the company. So, the first and foremost thing one can do is getting more recycling bins placed all around the house to help you remember and not miss out on anything. One can also get their kids amused, engaged, and motivated which no doubt is a real challenge but can be made fun by turning it into a game and by letting them use the discarded papers for craft and finally recycle them when done.
While staying at home, we can even save more than just a drop of water despite using them for essential activities. Some of the major facts entailed by the company are- hand washing dishes can use up to 4 gallons of water every two minutes, the average household uses over 300 gallons of water a day which certainly magnifies as we are staying at home. One can also use a high-efficiency detergent for high-efficiency washer while doing one’s laundry and lastly one can no doubt use several ways as an approach towards sustainable living; those are known by all of us.
P&G once came up with the Smarter Packaging with Tide Eco box during these which is a more sustainable way to get laundry detergents delivered directly to our home. The Eco box has unique outer cardboard, an inner plastic bag that enables the company to reduce up to 60% of plastic being extremely handy and easy to use with a no-drip tap to avoid any wastage. One of the essential features is that the Eco box is a compacted box i.e. one can use it for various purposes. Also one can recycle it by taking it apart and disposing-off the cardboard via curbside and following as per the instructions given on the box. Also due to a large number of customers preferring the Eco box, the company has expanded its usage for products in-home care segments.
The best RECYCLING TIP would be REDUCING though it is not that easy, one can switch to recyclable bottles and packages and also adopt various ways to sustainability. Dashing an ounce of the initiative to our planet would certainly prove to be a perk of living for humanity in the name of sanity.
Let’s come forth and join hands for sustainable habits benefiting our families, communities, and our planet.
