It gives me immense pleasure to write about India, the land of culture. It is not just a geographical boundary, it is our soul. Though our country has distinct cultures and beliefs, it is united by its history. India is a land of rivers, languages, traditions, and unity. It is a culmination of a vibrant culture. The most prominent instance of it is our Vedas- Rig, Sam, Yajur, and Atharva. India is the birthplace of sages and patriots, whose edification and courage have inspired the world. India does not only lead in the field of Ayurveda but also science and technology. Zero, which was invented by Aryabhatta and surgery, which was an offering by Sushruta, has enabled innumerable inventions.
Independence Day which is celebrated on 15 August annually, symbolizes valor and sacrifice of our martyrs. It is an event to express our reverence and pride towards our nation. Our freedom fighters welcomed so many adversities wholeheartedly to bestow freedom to the rank and file. We can breathe in the air of freedom solely due to their sacrifices. Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi broke the backbone of British imperialism in India through the Non- Cooperation Movement and the Civil Disobedience Movement. Young guardians of freedom like Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Mangal Pandey and many more, prioritized the nation. Rani Lakshmi Bai, Annie Besant, Bhikaji Cama, Sarojini Naidu, Vijay Lakshmi Pandit, to name a few, ensuring that the national flag remained aloft, despite the fear of being arrested. We are proud inhabitants of the land where a sense of independence flowed in the veins of men and women alike. The desire to create an independent and flourishing India was shared by all states, castes, and creeds. Our revolutionaries remained unwavering in the face of pain and atrocities. India is an epitome of the tricolor in our national flag- sacrifice and bloodshed to restore peace, greenery, and prosperity.
In contemporary times, the meaning of Independence Day is not solely restricted to unfurling the national flag. Our freedom fighters have endowed a responsibility to the posterity to preserve the nation’s dignity. Our soldiers at the borders, the police force, sweepers, social workers, etc. aim to remove all evils from the society. They dedicatedly work to construct a safe and incredible India. Unfortunately, the land of unity is disintegrating based on languages and castes. Corrupt industrialists and politicians evade taxes and make false claims which deteriorate the nation. As aware and sensitized citizens of India, we have to preserve our heritage. Also, we must convey the selflessness exhibited by the patriots to the next generation.
